This study used a pre-experiment research design. A total of 40 students who were in class 8C at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak were taken as the research sample by using cluster random sampling technique. The instruments of this research were pre-test and post-test. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data. The calculation of effect size obtained was 3.50 which shows a strong effect. Meanwhile, the results of data analysis showed that the t-test value for vocabulary was 5.31 and the t-table was 2.024. This means that the t-test is greater than the t-table or 5.31 > 2.074. The calculation implies that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Wordwall can enrich students' vocabulary and is suggested to be used in the teaching and learning process.
N. Dwiningrum, E. Bunau, E.F. CBLT: WHICH IS MORE EFFECTIVE IN ENHANCING EFL WRITING SKILLS? https://ejournal2.undiksha.ac.id/index.php/jpbi/article/view/2753
The comparison study on the influence of teaching strategies, both Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) and Content-Based Language Teaching (CBLT), in writing descriptive paragraphs and EFL students' motivation remains limited. Therefore, this research was conducted to investigate the differences in paragraph writing skills through TBLT and CBLT and their influence on student motivation. Based on these objectives, this research used a quantitative approach with a single-sample experimental design. The research population consisted of 8th-grade students at SMPN 1 Kuta Selatan (N=400). Ten percent of this population was selected as the sample using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments included tests and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests. The findings reveal that both teaching strategies influenced participants' writing skills and motivation. However, CBLT was more effective in stimulating students to write descriptive paragraph content with more grammatically accurate features compared to TBLT, which mainly encouraged the exploration of ideas and positive participant behavior to complete the task. Additionally, although both strategies influenced participant motivation, participants were more motivated to complete tasks with TBLT than with CBLT. Thus, assignments encouraged students to develop writing ideas rather than just focusing on grammar and text structure
I.K. The purpose of this study is to find out English teachers' perceptions in using L1 during the teaching and learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Karimun. This study used descriptive qualitative research to analyze teachers' perceptions. Data were obtained using observation and interview. Observations were used to find out the activities during the teaching and learning process, then interviews were used to find out more information to describe the perceptions of the teachers. The results of this study show that the use of the first language provides advantages and disadvantages in the teaching and learning process. In this study, the teacher prefers to use English as the language of instruction in the teaching and learning process rather than using the first language (L1) in the classroom. The use of first language (L1) in the teaching and learning process makes students have low speaking skills. According to the teacher, the use of L1 can hinder the learning objectives of the English subject, however it can make students quickly understand the content of the lesson.
L.P.P. Sari, E.E.
