DESAS-DESUS STRUKTUR ANGGOTA ASEAN HINGGA MASUKNYA TIMOR LESTE KE DALAM BAGIAN ANGGOTA ASEAN

Abstract

The hope of writing this scientific work is that all people from ASEAN countries can find out how the dynamics exist in international organizations, namely ASEAN, where (1) As an international organization with a legal entity as described above, ASEAN must be able to show the independence and differences of its member nations, namely the most important thing in terms of taking legal action. (2) The ASEAN Charter is the ASEAN constitution which is the constitution of the Association of Nations. (3) On 20 May 2002 the independence of Timor Leste was declared. Prior to that, before becoming Timor Leste the area was called the East Timor region, which was the 27th province of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. (4) In ASEAN there are also several member countries which have not been able to accept Timor Leste as a permanent member of ASEAN. Singapore with the title of being one of the countries with the most powerful economies in ASEAN is one of the strongest opponents of Timor Leste joining ASEAN (5). The country that most supports Timor Leste to become a permanent member of ASEAN is Indonesia, accompanied by Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
