Publication Ethics

The Indonesian Journal of Educational Inquiry is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethics in publishing. The journal follows the ethical guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers—to adhere to these standards. Below are the key ethical principles and responsibilities:

For Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and free of plagiarism. Proper acknowledgment of sources and citations is required. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals is considered unethical and unacceptable.
  • Data Accuracy: Authors must provide accurate and reliable data. Falsification, fabrication, or manipulation of research data is prohibited.
  • Authorship and Contribution: All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the research and agree to the manuscript’s submission and publication. Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed.
  • Corrections and Retractions: Authors have an obligation to notify the editor promptly if significant errors are found in their published work and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.

For Editors

  • Fair and Impartial Decisions: Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, and clarity of presentation, without discrimination based on the authors’ race, gender, ethnicity, or political beliefs.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must ensure confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and disclose information only to those involved in the review and publication process.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist and assign an impartial editor.
  • Publication Decisions: Editorial decisions must be based on the peer reviewers’ recommendations and the manuscript’s overall quality and relevance.

For Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential and not shared with others without the editor’s permission.
  • Objective Evaluation: Reviewers must provide objective and constructive feedback to improve the manuscript’s quality. Personal criticism is not acceptable.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify uncredited sources or instances of plagiarism and report them to the editor.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers must promptly complete their reviews within the agreed timeframe.

For the Publisher

  • Ethical Oversight: The publisher ensures that the journal operates under ethical standards and takes action to address misconduct such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate submissions.
  • Integrity of the Publication Record: The publisher works with editors to issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when needed.

By adhering to these ethical guidelines, the Indonesian Journal of Educational Inquiry aims to foster trust, accountability, and transparency in scholarly publishing.
