Similarity and AI Policy

The Indonesian Journal of Educational Inquiry is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. To maintain originality and ensure ethical research practices, the journal enforces the following policies on similarity checks and the use of AI tools in manuscript preparation:

1. Similarity Check Policy

  • All submitted manuscripts are subjected to a similarity check using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate).
  • The acceptable similarity index must be below 20%, excluding references, direct quotes, and commonly used phrases. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright.
  • Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. Authors are expected to appropriately cite and attribute all sources and prior work.

2. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

The Indonesian Journal of Educational Inquiry recognizes the growing role of AI tools in research and manuscript preparation. To ensure transparency and ethical use of these tools, the following guidelines apply:

Permitted Use of AI Tools

  • AI tools (e.g., grammar checkers, text editors, data analysis software) may be used to assist in manuscript preparation.
  • Authors must retain full responsibility for the content and accuracy of the manuscript.

Prohibited Use of AI Tools

  • AI-generated content (e.g., text, figures, or tables) must not replace original intellectual contributions.
  • Submissions created entirely or predominantly by AI tools are not acceptable.

Disclosure Requirement

  • Authors must disclose the use of any AI tools in the manuscript preparation process, including the tool’s name, purpose, and extent of use.
  • A disclosure statement should be included in the manuscript under a section titled Acknowledgments or Ethical Statement (e.g., "We used [Tool Name] to assist with grammar checks in this manuscript.").

3. Consequences of Non-Compliance

  • Manuscripts found to violate the similarity or AI policies will be rejected, and further action may be taken in cases of ethical misconduct.
  • The journal reserves the right to notify the authors' institutions or funding bodies if severe violations occur.

By submitting to the Indonesian Journal of Educational Inquiry, authors agree to adhere to these policies and uphold the integrity of scholarly publishing.
