Abstract

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 has driven digital transformation in various sectors, including libraries. The presence of AI provides opportunities for libraries to improve service quality through work process automation, collection recommendation systems, reference service chatbots, and data-driven information management. However, utilizing this technology requires librarians to be prepared to develop competencies relevant to the needs of the digital era. This article aims to examine the impact of AI developments on library services, identify the competencies required by librarians, analyze the level of librarian readiness for digital transformation, and formulate strategies to improve this readiness. The article was written using a literature review method, examining various relevant scientific journals, books, and academic sources on AI, library digital transformation, and librarian competency development. The study results indicate that AI has the potential to increase the effectiveness and innovation of library services, but its successful implementation is highly dependent on the readiness of human resources, organizational support, and the availability of technological infrastructure. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy, data literacy, understanding AI, and a culture of continuous learning are crucial factors in preparing librarians to adapt and play an active role in realizing innovative, adaptive, and relevant libraries in the era of artificial intelligence.
