Publication Ethics

Jurnal Pacta Sunt Servanda (JPSS) has been published electronically as an Open Journal System (OJS) since 2020 under the management of the Law Studies Program, Department of Law and Citizenship, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha University of Education, Singaraja.

The management of the Jurnal Pacta Sunt Servanda (JPSS) is managed in accordance with the publication ethic journal, namely the ethics of journal management as a whole concerning: Open Access Policy, Frequency Publications, Board of Ethic Policy Editor, Ethic Policy Reviewer, Ethic Authors Policy. With reference to the publication ethics that have been determined, this journal is published on an OJS basis, the frequency of publication is two (2) times a year, namely the period of Maret and September, all articles are published through a review process from the Board of Editors, review process from a team of internal good reviewers as well as external. Articles published in accordance with the focus & scope of the journal written by the author based on the Author Guidelines and Journal Templates.

Open Access Ethic Policy

This journal is an electronic journal based on the Open Access Journal, ethically the articles in this journal can be accessed openly by readers which are intended to support the development of the global world in the dissemination of knowledge, especially those related to the results of studies in the field of law, both law in the realm of local, national and international.

Publication Frequency

The frequency of publication of this journal is two (2) a year, namely in the period Maret and September.

Publication Ethics for Board of Editors:

The publication of articles in this journal goes through the Peer-Review Process which begins with a review and review of the journal template by the Board of Editors or the Editorial Board as follows:

The Board of Editors, both internal and external, have a track record as a journal manager (editor) whose job it is to check and ensure carefully that the article being reviewed must meet the Author Guideline and Journal Templates.


This process is carried out by single blind reviewers in stages towards the double blind reviewers.


The editor is in charge of providing the results of the review or the results of the assessment by filling out the assessment result form / assessment format.


The Managing Editor is tasked with returning the article according to the review results of the Editors when the article still does not meet the Author Guidelines and Journal Templates as well as publication ethics for the author.


In the review process by the Editorial Team, checks were also carried out related to checking similarity using Turnitin.


The managing editor together with the Editor in Chief is tasked and responsible for processing articles that meet the requirements for the assessment of the Author Guideline and Templates with a follow-up to the review process by reviewers, both internal reviewers and reviewers.


The entire process of reviewing articles by the Board of Editors is carried out electronically, and the editor is ethically in charge and responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the entire review process, except for the purposes of the author and the journal publication process in this journal. Unpublished articles may not be used in research and editorial publications without the written consent of the authors.


Journal editors are tasked with deciding which articles are worthy of publication, taking into account the results of the preliminary review of the editors' team, the validity of the articles from the results of reviewers, the benefits and contributions of the substance of the articles in the context of developing legal science for researchers, academics, and practitioners, especially those related to the development of legal substance either locally, nationally, and internationally.

Publication Ethics for Reviewers

In this journal, all articles are published through a peer review process carried out by internal reviewers and external reviewers who have scientific competence in accordance with the published articles. The reviewer is tasked with assessing the substance of the article, assisting the author through comments and input both relating to the state of arts and other relevant substance components. The review process was carried out using a single blind review and gradually using a double blind review. An ethical review process is carried out for the substance of the article, criticism and input are carried out objectively. Reviewers provide clear assessments, views and input supported by clear arguments. Personal criticism of the author is an unethical action and it is inappropriate for reviewers to do so during the review process in this journal.

Reviewer is tasked with in detail assessing and identifying the relevance of legal documents, concepts, theories and the results of previous relevant studies used by the author to review and analyze. The reviewer is also tasked with identifying relevant sources of reading or study results that the authors have not followed up on. Every article reviewed by a reviewer is confidential and must be kept confidential, ethically any correspondence related to the article for the author must go through the journal manager. The review process should not be carried out by the reviewer in the event of a conflict of interest with the author. Reviewers may not use the article under review for their own benefit.

Publication Ethic for Authors

Authors who wish to publish their articles in this journal are required to follow the requirements as stated in the Author Guidelines and Journal Templates. Articles sourced from research results must present the research method clearly and accurately in accordance with the prevalence of research methods in the field of law. The data presented in the form of tables, matrices and figures must include the source. Dishonesty in submitting data and references is unethical behavior that is not tolerated in this journal.

Regarding originality, it is carried out through the Turnitin process and if the author uses the results of previous studies to support his article, it must be ensured that ethically the source of the quoted work has been mentioned through an appropriate footnote mechanism. The author may not post the same article in several journals, and the same article that has been published in other places should not be submitted to this journal, because this is unethical behavior.

The names included in the article as authors are all people who contributed to the writing of the article. Inclusion of the author's name that does not contribute to the realization of the article to be published is unethical behavior.
