Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
1. General Requirements
Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Matematika Indonesia (JPPMI) invites authors to submit original scholarly manuscripts relevant to mathematics education and learning. All submissions must comply with the journal's focus and scope, author guidelines, and publication ethics policies.
Authors are required to use the official JPPMI manuscript template and ensure that their submissions meet the following requirements:
-
The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication by another journal.
-
The manuscript must be written in clear, accurate, and academically appropriate English or Indonesian, in accordance with the journal's language requirements.
-
The manuscript should not normally exceed 4,000 words. Authors should follow the official journal template for the manuscript structure and formatting.
-
The manuscript must be carefully proofread for spelling, grammar, clarity, and consistency before submission.
-
Authors must ensure that all sources, data, figures, tables, and other materials from third parties are properly cited and that permission is obtained when required.
-
All authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
2. Manuscript Structure
Research articles should generally include the following sections, as appropriate to the research design and the journal's template.
Title
The title should be concise, informative, specific, and representative of the main topic of the study. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations and overly broad statements.
Abstract
The abstract should contain 150–250 words and be written in the past tense when describing completed research. It should briefly explain the research problem, objective, methodology, principal findings, and conclusions. The abstract must be self-contained and should not contain unnecessary citations.
Keywords
Provide relevant keywords that represent the main concepts of the manuscript and support its discoverability in scholarly databases. Avoid simply repeating all the words in the title.
Introduction
The introduction should explain the research background, identify the research problem, summarize relevant literature, establish the research gap, and state the research objectives. It should clearly explain the novelty and significance of the study and demonstrate its contribution to mathematics education and learning.
Methods
The methods section should describe the research design, participants or data sources, instruments, procedures, and data analysis techniques in sufficient detail to support scholarly evaluation and, where appropriate, replication. The methodology should be appropriate to the research objectives and supported by relevant references when necessary. Ethical approval and informed consent should be reported when applicable.
Results and Discussion
The results section should present the research findings clearly and systematically, using text, tables, or figures as appropriate. The discussion should interpret the findings in relation to the research objectives, relevant theories, and previous studies. Authors should explain the significance of the findings, discuss similarities or differences with previous research, and describe the study's implications and limitations where relevant.
Conclusion
The conclusion should directly address the research objectives and summarize the principal findings without merely repeating the results section. It should highlight the study's contribution and, where appropriate, provide recommendations or directions for future research.
References
All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every reference listed must be cited in the text. Authors should use reliable and relevant scholarly sources and verify the accuracy of all bibliographic information and DOI links.
The citation and reference format must follow the official JPPMI manuscript template and the journal's specified referencing style.
3. Tables and Figures
Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and cited in the manuscript text. Each table and figure should have a clear, informative title or caption and be placed near its first mention in the text.
Authors must ensure that all tables and figures are legible, necessary, and consistent with the information presented in the manuscript. Sources must be acknowledged, and permission must be obtained for copyrighted material when required.
4. Formatting and Manuscript Preparation
Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official JPPMI template. The manuscript should have consistent headings, paragraph formatting, citations, tables, figures, and references.
The submission file must be in an editable format accepted by the journal's online submission system, such as Microsoft Word or another supported word-processing format.
Authors should avoid unnecessary use of boldface, italics, abbreviations, and other formatting elements. Abbreviations must be defined at first use.
5. Citation and Referencing
Authors are responsible for ensuring that citations and references are complete, accurate, and consistent with the journal's required referencing style. Where available, DOI links should be included in the reference list. URLs should be provided for online sources when appropriate.
Authors should give proper credit to the original sources of ideas, data, quotations, and other materials. Failure to acknowledge sources appropriately may constitute plagiarism.
6. Publication Ethics and Originality
All submitted manuscripts are subject to editorial screening and plagiarism checking using Turnitin. The journal applies a maximum similarity index of 25%, subject to editorial assessment of the similarity report and its sources.
A similarity score alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original, properly cited, and compliant with the journal's publication ethics policies.
Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest, funding sources, and other information required by the journal. Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and report ethical approval and informed consent where required.
Manuscripts that fail to meet the journal's requirements may be returned for revision or rejected.
7. Peer Review and Editorial Decisions
All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and overall suitability for publication.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are subject to peer review in accordance with the journal's review policy. Editorial decisions may include acceptance, revision, further review, or rejection.
Authors must respond to reviewers' comments carefully and submit a revised manuscript within the deadline specified by the editor. Acceptance for publication is subject to the editor's final decision.
