Authorship Criteria

Authorship in Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan Indonesia must reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript. All listed authors must have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the work and be willing to take responsibility for their respective contributions. Authorship must not be based solely on academic position, institutional affiliation, seniority, funding, or supervisory responsibilities.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Scholarly Contribution: Contribute substantially to the conception or design of the study, the development of the research methodology, the acquisition of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for their contributions and to cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of the work.

All four criteria must be fulfilled for an individual to be listed as an author. Individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions but have not yet met all four criteria should be given the opportunity to participate in the relevant activities necessary to qualify for authorship, where appropriate.

2. Author Contributions

Authors are expected to ensure that their contributions to the research and manuscript are accurately represented. Relevant contributions may include formulating the research problem and objectives, developing the research design and methodology, collecting data, analyzing and interpreting findings, developing the theoretical framework, and drafting or critically revising the manuscript.

These activities are illustrative and do not independently establish authorship eligibility. Each listed author must meet all four criteria specified in this policy.

3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the journal throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  2. Confirming that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to the order of authorship.

  3. Ensuring that author names, institutional affiliations, and other submission information are accurate.

  4. Communicating relevant editorial decisions and revision requests to all co-authors.

  5. Ensuring that all authors review and approve the final version before publication.

The corresponding author must provide accurate information about authorship and facilitate communication among all authors when necessary.

4. Order of Authorship

The order of authorship must be agreed upon by all authors before manuscript submission and should reflect their respective contributions and applicable scholarly practices.

The journal does not prescribe a universal authorship-order convention. Authors are responsible for agreeing on an appropriate order and resolving any differences before submission.

5. Changes in Authorship

Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission must be justified and agreed upon by all authors concerned, including individuals being added or removed.

The corresponding author must submit a written request to the editorial team explaining the reasons for the proposed change and confirming the agreement of all authors concerned. The journal may suspend the editorial process while the request is reviewed.

Changes to authorship after publication will be handled in accordance with the journal's applicable publication ethics and correction procedures.

6. Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributions

Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, where applicable and with their permission.

Such contributions may include technical assistance, administrative support, proofreading, language editing, and other forms of assistance that do not satisfy the authorship criteria.

Academic rank, institutional affiliation, research funding, or general supervision alone does not qualify an individual for authorship.

7. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

The journal does not accept the following practices:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: Listing individuals who have not made the required scholarly contributions or do not meet all authorship criteria.

  • Ghost authorship: Improperly excluding individuals who have made qualifying contributions and meet the authorship criteria.

  • Misrepresentation of contributions: Providing inaccurate or misleading information about individual authors' contributions.

  • Unauthorized authorship changes: Adding, removing, or rearranging authors without the required agreement of all authors concerned.

Suspected authorship disputes or violations will be handled by the editorial team in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.

8. Generative AI and Authorship

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and accountability of scholarly work. Authors remain responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including any material produced or assisted by generative AI tools. Further requirements concerning the use and disclosure of generative AI are specified in the journal's Generative AI Policy.

9. Author Declaration

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan Indonesia, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria, have approved the submitted manuscript, and agree to take responsibility for their respective contributions.

The corresponding author also confirms that the authorship order has been agreed upon by all authors and that no individual who meets the authorship criteria has been improperly excluded.

The journal reserves the right to request additional information or documentation concerning authorship and individual contributions when necessary.
