Peer Review Process
Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan Indonesia employs a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated based on their originality, academic contribution, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, methodological rigor, and overall quality.
Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editors to assess their suitability for the journal. This screening considers the manuscript's relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the Author Guidelines, originality, academic quality, and adherence to publication ethics.
The editors may reject a manuscript without external peer review if it does not meet the journal's requirements or is considered unsuitable for publication.
Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are sent to at least two qualified reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers may be selected from the Editorial Board or from external experts, depending on the manuscript's subject and the availability of appropriate reviewers.
The journal applies a double-blind review system. Authors' identities are concealed from reviewers, and reviewers' identities are concealed from authors. Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts do not contain identifying information that could compromise the anonymity of the review process.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts objectively and provide constructive comments and recommendations concerning originality, relevance, theoretical foundations, research methodology, data analysis, discussion, conclusions, and overall presentation.
Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations, the editor makes the editorial decision. The possible decisions are:
-
Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revision.
-
Minor Revision: Limited revisions are required before the manuscript can be accepted.
-
Major Revision: Substantial revisions are required, and the revised manuscript may be subject to further review.
-
Reject: The manuscript is not considered suitable for publication in the journal.
The editor may request additional revisions or further review when necessary to ensure the manuscript's academic quality.
Revision Process
When revisions are requested, authors must address the reviewers' and editors' comments carefully. Authors should provide a point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed and indicate the corresponding changes in the revised manuscript.
Depending on the extent and nature of the revisions, the revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editor.
Review Timeline
The journal aims to complete the review and editorial decision process as efficiently as possible. Authors will normally be informed of the editorial decision within approximately eight weeks, although the actual review period may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the number of revision rounds required.
Final Decision
The final publication decision is made by the editor based on the reviewers' evaluations, the manuscript's academic quality, its relevance to the journal's focus and scope, and compliance with the journal's policies.
All communications concerning the peer-review process, including review results, revision requests, and editorial decisions, are sent to the corresponding author through the journal's official submission system or registered email address.
