Review Process Policy

Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan Indonesia applies a rigorous, objective, and transparent peer-review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.

1. Double-Blind Peer Review

The journal employs a double-blind peer-review system. The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process. Authors are required to ensure that their manuscripts do not contain identifying information that could compromise the anonymity of the review.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editors to assess their suitability for the journal. The screening considers the manuscript's relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the Author Guidelines, originality, academic quality, and adherence to publication ethics.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements or are considered unsuitable for publication may be rejected by the editors without proceeding to external peer review.

3. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are sent to at least two qualified reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers may be selected from the Editorial Board or from external experts, depending on the subject of the manuscript and the availability of appropriate reviewers.

The reviewers evaluate manuscripts objectively and provide constructive comments and recommendations concerning:

  • originality and academic contribution;

  • relevance to the journal's focus and scope;

  • theoretical foundations;

  • research methodology;

  • data analysis;

  • discussion and interpretation of findings;

  • conclusions; and

  • overall presentation and academic quality.

4. Editorial Decision

The editor makes the editorial decision based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations. The possible decisions are:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revision.

  • Minor Revision: Limited revisions are required before the manuscript can be accepted.

  • Major Revision: Substantial revisions are required, and the revised manuscript may be subject to further review.

  • Reject: The manuscript is not considered suitable for publication in the journal.

The editor may request additional revisions or further review when necessary to ensure the manuscript's academic quality.

5. Revision Process

When revisions are requested, authors must carefully address the comments and recommendations provided by the reviewers and editors.

Authors are required to provide a point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed and to indicate the corresponding changes made in the revised manuscript.

Depending on the extent and nature of the revisions, the revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editor.

6. Review Timeline

The journal aims to complete the review and editorial decision process as efficiently as possible. Authors will normally be informed of the editorial decision within approximately eight weeks.

The actual review period may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the number of revision rounds required.

7. Final Decision

The final publication decision is made by the editor based on the reviewers' evaluations, the manuscript's academic quality, its relevance to the journal's focus and scope, and compliance with the journal's policies.

The editor has the authority to make the final decision regarding publication.

8. Communication

All communications concerning the peer-review process, including review results, revision requests, and editorial decisions, are sent to the corresponding author through the journal's official submission system or registered email address.

Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan Indonesia is committed to maintaining a fair, rigorous, confidential, and ethical peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality scholarly work in educational research, measurement, assessment, and evaluation.
